recent developments
These past year has been a great ride for us at Lemont Family Dental. In May 2008, our team traveled to New Orleans, LA to attend the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. We spent our days taking many clinical courses, and our evenings discovering the culture of the Big Easy. Our ViziLite cancer screening is one of the many services that we learned about and have incorporated into our practice.
June 2008 was a very important month for our hygienists, Erin, LeeAnn, Debbie, and Rosemarie (myself and Dr. Marissa included) as we were all certified in laser techniques to treat periodontal disease. We are the first office in this area to have our ENTIRE team trained in laser periodontal therapy. We believe lasers to be the best, most efficient, least invasive, and most comfortable therapy to combat periodontal disease (see Healthy Mouth = Healthy Body).
In order to better serve our clients, our team took part in intensive team training in Portland, OR. Since then, many of our clients are reaping the benefits of our great teamwork!
Sleep apnea is a significant health risk that is becoming more common denominator for patients in our practice. In order to better understand this disease, I went to study under Dr. Ira Shapira, who is a pioneer in dental sleep medicine, to better treat patients who are affected by sleep apnea. This training has allowed me to better fabricate special appliances for patients who are diagnosed eith sleep apnea, and find CPAP's uncomfortable to use.
Recently, I entered into a surgical implant program at the Misch Implant Institute. I am very excited to be participating in this residency-like program because it will increase my clinical skills to place implants in my office. I am training under the direct guidance of Dr. Carl Misch, who is the gold standard in implant dentistry.
We would love to have a conversation with you about any of the above topics, or better yet, how we can help you achieve your optimal dental health.
Floss On,
Dr. Jennifer
